kdpbook.io is a browser-based AI book generator built only for Amazon KDP. Give it a one-sentence idea or your own manuscript, and it plans, writes, illustrates and lays out the book, then exports an interior PDF, a full-wrap cover PDF, a listing sheet and, for text and picture books, a Kindle EPUB. It opened to the public on September 26, 2026, so it has no track record yet.

What You Get#

• 36 book types in 8 families: Picture books, illustrated stories, novels, non-fiction guides, coloring books, puzzle books, journals and comics, each with its own layouts.
• KDP rules applied in code: The layout engine, not the AI, calculates trim, margins that widen with page count, bleed, spine width and the barcode area. It covers 16 paperback trims plus custom sizes, and 5 hardcover trims.
• Consistent characters: Main characters get reference sheets that are reused on every illustration. There are 40 styles, or you can upload a reference image.
• Manuscript import: It lays out .docx, .doc, PDF, Markdown or plain text without rewriting it. It can't import EPUB.
• Editor and preview: Hand edits, AI rewrites and image redraws, with KDP checks running as you work and a 3D preview.
• Listing sheet: Title, description, 7 keywords, categories and suggested KDP AI-disclosure answers. The keywords come without search-volume data.

Who It's For#

• Low-content and children's-book publishers: Coloring, puzzle, journal and picture books cost the fewest credits and gain the most from automation.
• Authors who wrote their own book: The vendor estimates an imported 80,000-word novel at about 1,357 credits (about $14), including the plan, typesetting and cover, so it can also work as a formatter and cover maker.

Pricing: Credit-based. Starter is $25/month (2,500 credits), Author $49/month (5,500) and Studio $99/month (12,000). Yearly billing costs 10 months' price ($250, $490 or $990). Subscribers can buy credit packs from $10 (1,000 credits) to $500 (50,000). The vendor estimates about 1,624 credits for a 32-page picture book and 5,377 for a 336-page novel. New accounts get 2,000 credits once, with no card needed. Free-plan exports are watermarked, can't be sold and are shown in the public community library. Prices exclude tax.

Strengths#

• Clear credit accounting: You see a line-by-line estimate before each book. Only what gets produced is charged, and the rest goes back to your balance. Exports never cost credits.
• Full KDP file set: Print PDFs, a wrap cover sized to the final page count, and a Kindle EPUB (reflowable for text books, fixed-layout for picture books and comics), all from one project. Coloring, puzzle, activity and journal books are print only.
• Clear about AI: The AI content policy requires disclosure to KDP and bans mass-producing near-identical books. The privacy policy says books aren't used for AI training. Generation runs on OpenAI's API, and Google's Gemini API handles layout planning.

Limitations#

• Brand new and unreviewed: The operating company was registered in Paris on August 15, 2026. As of September 29, 2026, there were no Trustpilot, Reddit or independent reviews.
• The free plan is a trial: Its credits are a one-time grant, and the watermarked output can't be sold. Free accounts can't buy credit packs.
• AI-generated output: Unless you import your own manuscript, the text and art must be disclosed to KDP as AI-generated. The terms warn that this output may not be protected by copyright and isn't exclusive to you.
• No market research: It doesn't estimate niche demand or keyword volume.
• Limited refunds: Apart from the EU/UK 14-day withdrawal right, credits you have used and billing periods that have started aren't refunded.

Alternatives#

KDP Builder is the closest match: it also generates complete KDP books with consistent characters and PDF and EPUB exports. Book Bolt suits low-content publishers who want niche research alongside interior templates. Authors formatting their own manuscript can skip AI entirely with Atticus or Vellum (Mac only).
