Krannie Manuscript Framework (KMF) is a desktop novel-writing app that takes a book from idea to KDP-ready files. It combines AI drafting held to a per-pen-name "Literary DNA" voice profile with 21 manuscript audits, cover and metadata tools and a one-click compiler. It is sold once: you connect your own AI provider or run a free local model, so there is no subscription and no credit system.

Not yet shipping: On 29 September 2026 the site read "Coming Soon October 1st 2026" and all three edition pages showed "Out of stock". There are no user reviews and no independent coverage yet.

What You Get#

• Literary DNA and Style Fingerprint: Each pen name gets a voice profile that steers drafting. A stylometric fingerprint then measures the finished prose, without an AI call, and flags drift.
• Gated chapter drafting: Chapter Expansion drafts one beat at a time with your approval and runs a rule-based quality check before a chapter is marked done. A batch mode runs unattended, and a Conversion mode expands a novella into a novel.
• 21 audits: These cover continuity, pacing, dialogue and voice, plus genre-structure checks. Two audits compare prose against your other pen names and against locked series canon.
• Cover Lab: Renders a cover if your AI provider can generate images. Otherwise it exports a prompt pack with KDP spine-width math.
• Metadata and compile: Suggests BISAC codes, keywords and blurb copy, then outputs an EPUB3, a KDP print interior PDF, a wraparound cover PDF and a metadata file.

Who It's For#

• Multi-pen-name authors: The editions differ mainly in how many voices they hold: 6, 10 or 20.
• Privacy-minded writers: Files stay on your computer. With Ollama or LM Studio, no text leaves the machine.

Pricing: Studio costs $99.95, Pro $149.95 and Elite $199.95, all one-time. Pro adds the Plotter Suite, an AI cost ledger, Sprint mode and mobile Quick Notes. Updates are included and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee. Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini usage is billed by the provider at its own rates, with no markup. The FAQ doesn't confirm a trial.

Strengths#

• Voice drift measurement: It compares finished prose to a stored profile and checks pen names against each other, rather than only steering generation.
• One-time price, BYOK or offline: No usage meter.
• Free browser tools: A separate free tools page offers eight tools with no account: AI Tells Check, Style Fingerprint, Echo Finder, Pacing Map, Name Check, Prose Cleanup, a KDP metadata counter and a spine calculator. The script that runs the tools makes no network requests, which fits the no-upload claim, though the page still loads the store's own cookie and analytics scripts.

Limitations#

• Unreleased and unproven: There is no track record and no changelog. The operator, Krannie, LLC, was registered in Florida in August 2026. The vendor's own pages disagree on details, such as 12 vs 16 voice-profile fields.
• Licence contradicts the Elite pitch: Elite is marketed to "ghostwriting studios". The terms, however, restrict licences to the buyer's own work, "not for commercial studio or team use". Licences are node-locked and non-transferable.
• Mac build unconfirmed: macOS (Apple Silicon only) is listed, but every screenshot comes from the Windows build. There is no Intel Mac or Linux version.
• SmartScreen warning: The FAQ tells Windows users to click "Run anyway".
• AI setup is on you: You need an API key or a local model. Batch-drafted text counts as AI-generated under KDP's disclosure rules.

Alternatives#

NovelCrafter is the proven BYOK option, but it is a browser subscription. Sudowrite bundles AI credits instead. For formatting alone, Vellum and Atticus are established one-time purchases.
