Critique Circle

Critique Circle is one of the longest-running peer critique communities on the internet, launched October 21, 2003 by Logic Trap ehf (based in Iceland). It operates on a credit-based reciprocity model: members earn credits by critiquing others' work and spend those credits to post their own writing for feedback. Approaching one million critiques served, Critique Circle offers structured tools for fiction writers and essayists seeking pre-publication feedback.

Note: poetry is not supported. Supported genres include literary fiction, genre fiction (sci-fi, fantasy, romance, horror, suspense, children's), essays, and nonfiction articles.

How the Credit System Works#

Posting a submission costs 3 credits. Members earn 0.5–2 credits per critique written, based on length. Submissions remain in the public queue for one week — they close after seven days regardless of how many critiques have been received. New members receive a new-user queue boost for initial engagement. This one-week window differs from Scribophile's count-based closure, which keeps submissions open until a set number of critiques arrive.
