The Niche Reader offers two complementary services for indie authors: a beta reading service and an ARC review service. Both are built around the same principle — hand-picking readers whose reading preferences closely match the manuscript, ensuring feedback and reviews come from the genuine target audience rather than general readers.
For beta reading, The Niche Reader guarantees six readers per project (plus up to three substitutes, so authors may receive up to nine pieces of feedback) based on genre alignment and vets them for reliability — readers who fail to deliver are removed from the pool. Projects for books up to 120,000 words take four weeks; 120,000–180,000-word books take five weeks; books over 180,000 words use custom timelines. Authors receive feedback compiled through a standardized 15-question framework plus up to 8 author-specified custom questions. Genres accepted: fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, thriller, historical fiction, romance, horror, literary, contemporary, and YA (readers are 18+; no children's fiction).
For ARC distribution, the service guarantees 15–20 reader registrations or refunds the full fee. Reviews are invited on Amazon (primary target) and Goodreads (optional). All book files are digitally watermarked with both visible and invisible components linking copies to individual readers as a piracy deterrent.
The service accepts US and UK readers primarily, with some international availability.
